How to Stop Tooth Pain at Home Before You Reach the Dentist

First, do no damage

Never place aspirin or painkillers directly on your gum — it burns the tissue and can make the infection worse. Take oral pain relief only as directed on the packet, and keep the area clean by rinsing gently with warm salt water.

Cold compress for swelling

If your face is swollen, wrap an ice pack or a bag of frozen vegetables in a cloth and hold it against the outside of your cheek for 15 minutes at a time. This reduces swelling and numbs the area while you arrange to be seen.

Avoid the triggers

Very hot, very cold, and very sweet food can spike the pain. Stick to soft, lukewarm food on the unaffected side of your mouth until you've been examined.

When to stop waiting

If the pain is severe, throbbing, or keeping you awake at night, the problem won't fix itself — it needs treatment. Call us on 0322 4455001 and we'll guide you to the fastest relief.
